Daz-I-Kue, a Londoner, since his birth has always been into music, favoring vinyl records rather than candy like regular kids. With his childhood buddy at the age 14 forms The Funbunch Sound System, being the soundtrack for the high a number of successful parties hosted by the likes of Trevor Nelson (Radio 1), and Norman Jay MBE. 1989 The Funbunch Sound System lands itself a gig at the legendary Notting Hill Carnival and is still rockin’ the spot to this current day.
To learn further the technical aspects of his sound system, Daz decides to take a course with School of Audio Engineering (SAE) and develops his love of music production! With the help of his friends, Daz formally begins his production career by financially investing in the purchase of industry-level music production equipment. He soon releases his first vinyl bootleg mega mix entitled, “Daz Mix Parts 1 & 2” (It was a big hit in Brooklyn apparently!) and then follows it up with his official debut 12” single entitled, “Daz Jazz”- with great support from radio, music magazines & DJ’s worldwide.
1993 Daz starts his sound engineering and production career working in the UK underground music scene, working on projects like jungle/drum & bass remix in the infamous Soul II Soul studios. Daz is then contracted as an in-house sound engineer for the UK indie dance label, Slip ‘n Slide Records meeting artist and colleagues who will be integral part of his music career which flourishes, working with all the top producers in the scene.
1998 Daz-I-Kue becomes member of a Bugz In The Attic, a collective of producers, who have become known as one of the pioneers of the broken beat scene, working with likes of Amy Winehouse, Soul II Soul, Dame Shirley Bassey & Macy Gray. Bugz in the Attic release the magnificent, “Got the Bug” remix LP on Virgin’s V2 label to a massive critical acclaim. The Co-Op party wins the Best Club Event award at the first-ever Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards & Bugz in the Attic earns the Best Single award for “Booty La La”.
The debut Bugz in the Attic LP- “Back in the Doghouse” forms the Bugz in the Attic Live band & tours extensively world-wide: USA, Japan, Australia and Europe. 2007 – 2008: The Co-Op party wins Best Club Event at the Gilles Peterson’s BBC Worldwide Awards- again!!!
The same year Daz moves from the UK and settles in Atlanta, GA, thanks to love. This doesn’t slow his dj/sound engineering/producing endeavors putting a number of successful parties with ATL institute Karl Injex, while working on a numerous productions and remixes. Even starts a radio podcast, FSR Radio show, which has been syndicated to a number of internet radio stations.
2011 Daz production partnership with Khari Simmons (India Arie/Jiva) begins, and has worked so far with Atlanta’s top Independent mainly soul artist like Avery Sunshine, Anthony David, Heston and Rhonda Thomas and there is much more coming for the future.
2014 reached No.1 in “UK Soul Charts” with Heston’s “Love Junkie” album, which he produced. He continues works with the independent scenes finest, producing, engineering, mixing & putting on events with the likes Carmen Rodgers, Chantae Cann and Zo among others
